Hello everyone! Just a little diversion from weddings today!
I wanted to share a few of the highlights from.....THE BEST TRIP OF MY LIFE. No big deal....it was just awesome. I personally do not feel Paris is over rated at all. I could live on croissants from the boulangerie’s in Paris for the rest of my life. And the espresso. And the baguette’s. Okay, so I guess what I’m saying is, I could live in Paris for the rest of my life. We stayed in a great little AirBnB in the Republique neighborhood. It had a great cafe across the street called Les P’tites Indecises. It was lovely and made us feel like residents, not just tourists.
This whole city is a photographers dream. Mainly I just have pictures of the Eiffel tower (cuz, you know, its the EIFFEL TOWER), but I did throw a few others in there for everyone to see.
So #photographerproblems, I only packed three lenses for the whole trip, Africa and then Paris. Unfortunately my favorite lens broke while we were in Africa and I couldn’t replace it until I got home a couple weeks ago. But this isn’t too shabby for working with what I had with me! I realized after this trip, I can do a lot with just two inexpensive travel lenses. They definitely pulled their weight.
For anyone wanting to make a trip there I would strongly encourage:
- The Paris 5 day Visite Metro Pass. We used it the whole time we were there and we were able to see so much in a week once we got the hang of the Metro. Don’t let it overwhelm you if you aren’t used to it. With a little practice it became like second nature. You’ll feel like a Parisian in no time.
- I also highly recommend going all the way to the top of the Eiffel tower. But one of my favorite things we did was pick up a couple little mini bottles of wine, some pastries from one of our favorite boulangerie’s, sit on a quiet park bench in Champs De Mars and snack while we watched the lights twinkle every hour on the hour, 9,10,11, and 12. We stayed for it three times because it really is pure magic.
- Chateau Versailles, definitely worth the trek. And you can purchase an additional ticket at the metro that takes you pretty much all the way there, and when you come out of the metro in Versailles there is a Starbucks right across the street for all you fellow junkies. The farm there is a dream.
-I finally found the best hot chocolate in the whole wide world at La Duree. Oy Vey, you guys it is sinfully delicious. If you have ever watched the movie Chocolat and had an instant craving for hot chocolate then you and me are the same and you must try this.
Thats all I have for today! I hope you all enjoy these photos from our trip, and they inspire you to start saving for a trip of your own. WORTH EVERY PENNY. I think I have over used the all caps in this post. But once you take a trip there you will appreciate why.
By the way, brides who wish to get married there, I’m your girl, and I promise, I’ll bring the good lenses this time! Au Revoir!!!
